Mojainsamsang (Mother-Child Ginseng Statue)
Geumsan Ginseng Festival is hosted by the Geumsan Festivals & Tourism Foundation, and is the major regional festival that represents Geumsan-gun. The festival offers a variety of events, such as ginseng harvesting and opportunities to experience ginseng herbs.
Geumsan Ginseng Museum
Geumsan is the homeland of Korean ginseng and a hub of ginseng distribution with a 1,500 year history. In order to promote Korean (Geumsan) ginseng’s superior quality, the Geumsan Ginseng Museum was established on an 8,786㎡ lot with a building area of 4,173㎡, with 3 ground floors and a basement. Construction began in February of 1997, and opened in September of 2011.
The Geumsan Ginseng Museum allows the general public to delve into the history of Korean ginseng through historical records and educational materials, and learn about its efficacy, function and intake method. It is situated near other modern facilities, including the Geumsan Ginseng General Shopping Center, Geumsan Ginseng Centre and Ginseng Land. About 80% of the ginseng produced nationwide are brought here providing opportunities to purchase high-quality ginseng at affordable prices. The Geumsan Ginseng Festival is an international industrial tourism culture festival held annually between August and late September to promote Korean (Geumsan) ginseng’s superior quality locally and abroad.
Geumsan Forest Culture Town
Geumsan is 71% forest, with many resources. In particular, Geoncheon-ri in Nami-myeon, where Geumsan Forest Culture Town is situated, has well-preserved forests similar to primeval forests. It is an ecologically important area as it serves as habitat for various northern and southern plant species.
In Geumsan Forest Culture Town, which is recognized as a prominent ecological site in Geumsan, you can enjoy all the cultural aspects of forests. In addition to the existing Nami Natural Recreational Forest, Neutigol Forest Park, Geumsan Ecological Forest and Geumsan Health Forest, keeping in mind the vision of the future for our forests, the Forest Ecological Culture Experience Center, Wooden Culture Experience Center, and Forest of Healing were established in 2014 to help create an area of healing, recreational and ecological learning.
Daragwon
Geumsan Daragwon is a culture and welfare center established with the aim of providing services to artists, athletes, women, farmers and the disabled regardless of age. Geumsan's culture, welfare and health center’s architecture was designed to express the theme "A happy home ensures success in everything else." This is a place where people are invited to enjoy the arts and share, in harmony, the joy of life with others.
The Sino-Korean word, “Rak,” has three meanings: enjoyment, appreciation and arts. As such, Geumsan Daragwon is a place that provides cultural experiences for everyone, a place to enjoy various types of art and share joy with the people around you.
Geumgang Scientific Ecology Experience Center
Ecology Learning Center (Exhibit Hall)
A center where you can experience, at a glance, the beauty of Geumsan and Geumgang's natural ecological system.
Starting with exhibits and videos that introduce and reproduce the unique culture of Geumsan area's attractions and villages, the Ecology Hall offers a variety of models and examples of proper living habits to protect the environment. (Inquiries: 751-2415)
Science Center for Children (Experience Hall)
In order to provide a learning space where children can see, touch, hear, and feel directly for themselves, a science center was created from the kindergarten extension and remodeling of Geumgang Elementary School. It is composed of experience-oriented facilities where children can; learn about basic scientific principles through everyday things, such as constellations, the three primary colors of light, magnetic fields, and optical illusions; and participate in mini-experiments and make things, making science fun.
Various types of facilities are located outside the Experience Center, where children can learn the principles of solar energy through sundial and solar panels, experience sound vibrations through sound-making sticks, perform shows on stage, and have fun in the pinwheel park. (Inquiries: 751-2416)
Ginseng House
Ginseng House is a market for specialty products, run by Geumsan, to promote Geumsan ginseng & herbs superior quality. They hold exhibitions, run PR and sales promotions of ginseng, herbs, and other products, and provide Geumsan tourist and rest area information.
